Ways Cisco is Evolving in a "Post-PC" Era

By using cloud-based apps Cisco is making it easier for businesses to use their WebEx and also Jabber communications platforms on various mobile devices. Cisco executives are referring to the current times are the "post-PC" era, in which the company is trying to increase their capabilities of various joint offerings like WebEx and Jabber.

On November 16th, the Cisco Collaboration Summit 2011 event was held in Miami, Florida. During the summit, company executives declared the enhancements related to WebEx and Jabber will allow users to leverage new technologies flooding the marketplace such as cloud-based apps.

The director of collaboration product marketing at Cisco, Michael Smith, said the new enhancements are as per the interest of the business and tech world.

Smith said, "The innovation ... is much more in mobile and cloud." He also said that at present the focus of communications is less about PC, and more about people along with their devices, as reported by eWeek.

The enhanced WebEx beta version products will be available starting in December and their general availability is scheduled from early next year, Cisco confirmed.
