Apple gains control of porn domain names

Apple is now in control of several new domain names that feature the word 'iPhone' thanks a ruling by the World Intellectual Property forum - even though each of the sites is associated with mobile pornography.

Upon discovery that the legal might of Apple was turning its attention on him, the owner of the domain names agreed to hand them over to the fruity firm. According to Domain Name Wire, as of yesterday the sites had been transferred to brand protection company Mark Monitor, presumably before handing them over to Apple.

As it stands, many of the domain names still link to pornographic content, which is something Apple and Mark Monitor probably want to take a look at. However, now that you know what some of these domains can lead to, here's the full list of Apple's new property:

iphonecamforce.com
iphonecam4s.com
iphoneporn4s.com
iphonesex4s.com
iphonexxxforce.com
iphone4s.com
porn4iphones.com

Chances are the iPhone manufacturer won't do much with these domains - apart from iPhone4s.com - simply disassociating their mobile handsets with pornography. This is something that Steve Jobs would no doubt approve of: back in early 2010 he spoke about how he wished the iPad and other Apple products to be free from porn.

When pushed on this concept of freedom by Ryan Tate, a writer for Gawker, about this concept of freedom and how it related to the locked-down iPhone platform compared to Google's more open Android, Steve Jobs responded: "Yep, freedom from programs that steal your private data. Freedom from programs that trash your battery. Freedom from porn. Yep, freedom."
