Yandex Becomes Default Search Engine for Windows Phones in Russia

In Russia, Yandex became the default search engine for Windows based handsets. Yandex joined with Samsung, HTC, Nokia, and Microsoft to provide their search services on the newest Windows Phone based smartphones available in the Russian mobile market.

Now, the search engine is available on Samsung's Omnia W and Nokia's Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. Samsung's model is readily available in Russia; Nokia's models will hit the market in December.

IHTC is planning an updated release of its various Windows Phone based smartphone launched in last autumn.

Head of Web Portal and Mobile Services at Yandex, Tigran Khudaverdyan said, "Windows Phone is a new operating system with great potential. It is bound to catch attention in Russia. It's good to know that the Windows Phone users in this country will have familiar Yandex search on their new devices," as reported by Market Watch.

Yandex is known for developing apps and services for almost all major mobile operating systems. It became the leading search provider on the Bada-powered smartphones of Russia and also CIS in October of this year. Yandex a leading Internet company operating in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine,Turkey, and Belarus.
