Late News: MapleStory Hacked, Skype & UK Mobile operators to Negotiate over Internet Calls, Apple iTV, Facebook Privacy Row

South Korea based MapleStory was at the receiving end of a cyber attack last week and personal information of more than three-quarter users of the website have been put at risk. Usernames, IDs, passwords, as well as residential registration numbers might have been compromised as a result of this hack.

After British telecom regulator Ofcom indicated that they might intervene, UK mobile operators and Skype will be going to negotiations to sort out existing issues. Skype has complained that UK mobile operators are keeping Internet calls through its platform at bay and not allowing users to complete such calls.

Apple is reportedly developing a voice as well as gesture enabled TV set. The screen of this new device will be manufactured by Sharp, the Japanese manufacturer, quoting Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, reports The Guardian.

The EU has accused Facebook of harvesting personal information of its user based and selling it to advertisers for targeted advertising. Facebook has been accused of using sophisticated software to gather and harvest personal information of users and uses it to display advertisements on their profiles.

The widely popular Linux distribution which is built on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, recently released their newest version. The latest version is the biggest ever departure from Ubuntu. Till the version Linux Mint 10 the operating system was not much different from the parent operating system (Ubuntu), but as soon as Ubuntu changed itself to Unity desktop with the version Ubuntu 11.04 Linux Mint also chose a different path and got hooked to Gnome 2.
