BlackBerry PlayBook Rooted with DingleBerry Tool

BlackBerry PlayBook has been finally rooted. Yes, you read it right. A small team of developers have come up with a hack that successfully roots the PlayBook.

The exploit, through which the rooting is possible, has been discovered by hacker ‘xpvqs', Chris Wade and 'neuralic'.

The tool used to root the Playbook - DingleBerry, is not available for download yet. But, once it becomes available, developers may go crazy and stuff all kinds of apps and operating systems on the PlayBook.

This is an "untethered jailbreak meaning it persists across reboots". It has compatibility with different versions of the PlayBook operating system as well. The root access stays validated even when one version of the operating system is upgraded to another version, reported Geek.

The team has managed to get Hulu running on the PlayBook, which otherwise is not available on the tablet.

Chris Wade is a familiar name related to such software as well as firmware. He has already worked on PSP, iPod Touch, iWallet and also the iPhones.

Wade rooted the RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook emulator back in the month of April, 2011.
