Twitter Updates Blackberry App; Multiple Access Support

Twitter has updated its official app for RIM's Blackberry platform, adding much needed support for multiple accounts, as reported by Blackberry Cool.

The app, which was in beta for a long time, is available as an free update from BlackBerry App World. The Twitter for Blackberry app has new features including support for multiple accounts and the ability to share tweets with BBM contacts.

Twitter has also updated the app to work seamlessly with the Social Feeds app included with BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7 devices.

A lot of changes are being made to the BlackBerry platform as the company reacts to competition from Apple and Android.

The company recently updated its the Blackberry App World to version 3.1 beta, which has new features including the ability to gift apps to friends as well as the debut of the app content rating system.

RIM also released a new app called the Blackberry Mobile Conferencing 2.0, which lets users manage conference calls easily.

The company's hopes of staying in the smartphone game now lies with the BBX platform, which has been renamed Blackberry OS 10, after a landmark trademark infringement ruling against RIM.
