Microsoft, without much hype, introduced the latest service for helping Windows and Office users to get the most from their PC.
Answer Desks, a part of Microsoft's retail store, is somewhat similar to Apple's Genius Bars in that it provides users with a personalised consultation about computer related problems.
Every Answer Desk consultation begins with a free chat that can take place either online or over the phone with a support representative. In case the free consultation fails to resolve the problem, customers can opt to pay for additional consultations.
The charge for a one hour of "one-on-one" Windows or Office training is $49.00, $99.00 for two hours of virus removal and malware protection, $99.00 for one hour of Windows or Office troubleshooting, or $99.00 for two hours of PC performance tuning where the support team remotely controls the user's PC to perform tasks, reports ARS Technica.
Hopefully, the new service will prove effective for customers in helping to solve problems they have with their PC. This new service should also benefit Microsoft as well by increasing revenue and providing an invaluable service.
