Just after 16 days of its release, the latest instalment in the "Call of Duty" game series "Modern Warfare 3" has reached a milestone for being the "fastest selling entertainment offering of all time" with 1 billion copies sold via retailers.
California based, Activision Blizzard, yesterday confirmed that the latest addition to their highly successful franchise "Call of Duty", "Modern Warfare 3" has earned $400 million through sales just within 24 hours of its release on November 8th.
CEO of Activision, Bobby Kotich, stated that, "Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture," reported The Guardian.
The Call of Duty game franchise now has more than 30 million players throughout the globe, according to Activision. This figure is more than the population of London, Madrid, New York and Paris combined.
Kotich said, "Call of Duty is now amongst that rarified group of sustained franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and the National Football League that attract or engage tens of millions of people every year or every new release."
