The smartphone was released on the 15th of November (Rob Kerr previewed it here with some very nice pictures) and combines the signature portrait RIM Blackberry QWERTY keyboard with a touchscreen display.
The Bold 9790 comes with a single core Marvell Tavor MG1 chipset clocked at 1GHz, 768MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot which can push the storage capacity to 40GB.
It has a 2.45-inch touchscreen with a 480x360 pixel resolution, the onboard camera is a five megapixel model with VGA video recording, AF and flash, and it also comes with the new Blackberry OS 7.
Other noteworthy features include an optical touchpad, GPS, Wi-Fi, microUSB port, NFC capabilities, up to five hours talktime and universal voice activated search courtesy of Blackberry Balance; it is also available from Expansys for £350.
The other handset that was released at the same time as the 9790, the 9380, can be had for £320. The handset it is replacing, the Blackberry Bold 9780, has dropped in price to £283.20.
