Multitask Gestures Brought to iPhone by Zephyr Jailbreak

by Radu Tyrsina, 02 Jan, 2012 News

Grant Paul, also known as Chpwn, a well known hacker who provides solutions for jailbreaking iOS devices, has done it again.

A recently published jailbreak allows multitasking gestures, the option that iPad owners are very proud of, on iPhones. With this new tweak available in Cydia Store, iPhone users can simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to uncover the app switcher or from the left or right edge to access the recently used apps.

Users and analysts alike believe that Apple decided not to integrate multitasking gestures ot iPhones and iPods, due to small size touch screens that would make this option little inconvenient, as not many gestures can be actually made and transformed into actions on a 3.5 inch screen.

However, Zephyr tweak shows that simple intuitive gestures can work very well to provide extra functionality.  Even though only two gestures become available on the iPhone displays with this new tweak, some users will be happy to have this option. Steve Troughton-Smith noticed a while ago that "iOS on the iPhone really needs edge-swipe multitasking gestures" Zephyr is available on Cydia Store for $2.99 .

Just a quick reminder: in order to access Cydia on iPhone the handset needs to be jailbroken.
