Browser Tests Show Nokia Lumia 800 Behind iPhone 4S and iPhone 4

When Windows Phone 7.5 Mango was released, Microsoft proudly announced that its latest mobile operating system is ready to take on iOS and Android.

Some industry observers agreed there might be some truth to this, suggesting Mango delivers some better features than the two major mobile operating systems and also offers a few other surprises.

Now, a new set of benchmark tests reveal the situation in relation to browser performance. For Microsoft's WP Mango the Nokia Lumia 800 competes against Apple's most two most recent iPhone models.

The team from MyNokiaBlog conducted the performance tests including: browsermark, speed reading, sunspider, acid 3 and HTML5. Although the reviewer admits all three smartphones have "fantastic default browsers," Apple's handsets managed to finish ahead of the Lumia 800 on almost all the tests.

iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S were running on iOS 4.3 and iOS 5 respectively. In the speed reading test the diference between the two iOS versions was obvious as, iPhone 4 powered by Apple's latest OS had a significant increase in performance compared to iPhone 4 running on iOS 4.3. However, even with an earlier iOS version, iPhone 4 performed better than the Nokia Lumia.
