Despite the fact that the company has yet to make an official statement, it seems the Research in Motion is planning to come up with a pair of new PlayBook models during 2012. At least that's what the company's recently leaked 2012 product release roadmap suggests.
PlayBook was originally anticipated by the company and an overwhelming portion of the tech community to emerge as a significant threat to iPad's undisputed domination of the global tablet market. However, much to RIM's horror, PlayBook failed miserably in the market as compared to industry expectations.
According to the leaked 2012 roadmap, a 7-inch variant of the PlayBook will hit stores in April. This will be followed by a bigger, 10 inch version of the device launching towards the end of the year in December, according to Geeky Gadgets.
While the 7 inch variant will come equipped with a 3G+ connectivity - meaning a HSDPA/HSUPA or a 3.5G network, the 10 inch model will be blessed with an LTE radio.
Now what remains to be seen is whether or not these new releases will do any good to boost the company's reputation in the highly competitive tablet market.
