The LG Optimus 2X was the first dual core smartphone to hit the market back at the beginning of 2011, when Nvidia choose it to be the launch partner for the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset.
But now, the phone, otherwise known as the P990, has become the cheapest dual core handset in the country with a price tag of £220 - if you choose Paypal as the checkout option and use the discount code 15PAYPAL.
The device, which is unbranded and unlocked, is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset clocked at 1GHz and comes with 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 4-inch 800x480 pixel touchscreen display, an eight-megapixel rear camera capable of recording full HD video and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel one.
Other features include DLNA compatibility, HDMI out, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB and Android 2.2 Froyo (although an upgrade path to Android 2.3 Gingerbread is already available). Even if it is 12-months old, the Optimus 2x is still a pretty capable device that runs circles around newer mainstream rival smartphones.
Unfortunately, it is likely that LG is simply clearing out remaining stocks of the P990 ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where new LG handsets will be announced.
