The Acer Liquid Metal is rapidly becoming one of the best value handsets on the market, thanks to some heavy discounting by online retailer Expansys ahead of the Mobile World Congress and dozens of new product launches.
The handset currently costs £129.98, a price that can be discounted by £15 using the Paypal Checkout option and the discount code 15PAYPAL.
Customers can look forward to a very capable entry level smartphone. There's a Qualcomm MSM7230 processor clocked at 800MHz, 512MB RAM, 512MB internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 3.6-inch 800x480 pixel capacitive display, a five megapixel rear camera with LED flash and HD video recording, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Acer's proprietary user interface, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a 2GB microSD card, DLNA compatibility, a microUSB port and a 2500mAh battery.
Given that the iPhone 3GS still costs nearly three times the price of the Liquid Metal with inferior specifications, it's hard to justify shelling out the excessive premium for Apple's entry level handset.
Other smartphones around the £100 price mark include the ZTE Skate and the ZTE Blade 2, otherwise known as the Orange Monte Carlo and Orange San Francisco 2.
