At present Panasonic is engaged in the development of applications for the latest WiGig technology. WiGig is a future technology that will enable communication among devices which means users will be able to exchange photos, videos and various other information among devices by using 60GHz frequency band to achieve multigigabit speed.
In fact, the Japan based tech company also presented a concept demo video of WiGig technology - which is currently making the rounds on the internet.
Panasonic is a member of the board of directors of the WiGig Alliance of companies advocating wireless gigabit standard, as well as promoting a very powerful ecosystem of interoperable devices. In addition to Panasonic, the other prominent members of the board of directors are Intel, Dell, Broadcom, Microsoft and Cisco, reported PhysOrg.
This Alliance of multiple companies has already worked on 60GHz wireless technologies' unifying specification. This will eventually help multi-gigabit wireless connectivity between PCs and a number of devices that is available at present.
The Alliance stated that: "60 GHz is the ultimate complement to both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The 60 GHz band simply has much more bandwidth available (7-9 GHz of spectrum) vs. 83.5 MHz in the 2.4 GHz band, which enables much higher data rates."
