iPhone 4S Rival Alert : Huawei Ascend D1 Q Quad Core Handset To Launch At MWC 2012?
Huawei will launch its fastest smartphone yet at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in less than two weeks, and there are reports that the phone could be even more powerful than the Ascend P1 S.
A Japanese mobile blog claims that the Huawei Chairman, Yu Chengdong, said on his Weibo profile that the next handset will be called the Huawei Ascend D1 Q.
D could stand for Diamond - a more upmarket material compared with P for platinum, whereas Q could stand for quad core (although the P1 S didn't have a single core system on chip).
The P1 S did come with a dual core processor running at 1.5GHz and it is therefore likely that the D1 P could feature a quad core processor.
The only device on the market that currently has a quad core processor is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime which runs a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC.
The Huawei event will happen on the 26th of February in Barcelona and will kick off a series of events held before MWC starts on the 27th.
The Chinese telecommunication giant looks set to unleash a number of smartphones, feature phones and tablets in 2012 in a bid to grow to a $100 billion giant within a decade.
Part of the plan will be to move away from its ODM/OEM status supplying white labelled handsets to the likes of Vodafone, to a more upmarket, lucrative brand, not unlike what HTC did.
