HP Releases More Open Source Components of WebOS

HP, staying committed to its promise of making WebOS a full-fledged open source platform, has made available some more components of the troubled OS platform to the open source community.

The newly released components include the core of the JavaScript responsible for powering most of the operating system, a brand new web browser named Isis as well as a handful of user interface widgets. The new components released on Tuesday will enable the developers' community to come up with "immersive user environment(s) that can be built on any web platform."

Though the transformation of WebOS into an open source platform has been going as desired, it is highly likely that fans will have to wait for a few more months at least before a fully equipped open source WebOS finally hits their devices.

"Stay tuned for future webcasts, videos, and technical documentation on these developments. We have a number of exciting things planned as we continue the march to Open webOS", read a post in the official HP WebOS Developer Blog indicating that there are more components to be released as we progress further in the year.
