Asda To Sell PS Vita For Under £200 Instore Only?
Asda will apparently sell the Sony PS Vita gaming console for under £200, in physical stores only, from the 22nd of February, but has cut some corners in order to be the cheapest vendor on the market.
This is marginally cheaper than Amazon's £210 offer, but doesn't come with the welcome pack or even with a storage card (Amazon bundles an 8GB card and a game for £15).
Buying those separately will increase the price of the Asda deal to at least £212 (for a 4GB card) and more when you factor in the game.
It's worth noting that the majority of games will require a memory card to work. The deal makes sense if you want to buy/import a bigger 32GB proprietary memory card or if somehow you already have one.
The Vita will launch next week and is set to be the fastest portable gaming console on the market, one whose processing capabilities will approach that of the PS3.
It has a lot in common with next generation smartphones including a quad core Cortex A9 processor with an Imagination Technologies PowerVR GPU.
Also in on the feature list is a 5-inch touchscreen display, 512MB RAM, a touch sensitive pad at the back, dual cameras, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional 3G capabilities (ed : if only it could make calls without going through any VoIP services).
