AM News: Nvidia 4G LTE SoC Coming Later this Year, Apple Bags Slide-to-Unlock Victory, FBI to Shut Down Internet on March 8?
Last year, open source browser maker Mozilla started a new project with the vision of coming up with their own mobile OS platform. Dubbed Boot to Gecko (B2G) the new offering has now reportedly bagged the backing of some key players in the industry. Mozilla's chief technology officer Brenden Eich came up with a new announcement stating the company will reveal the names of the partners likely to be participating in the project at the forthcoming edition of Mobile World Congress.
Nvidia disclosed its yearly earning figures recently and made quite a few interesting and exciting revelations, the most significant one being its latest 3G / 4G LTE system-on-chip, Grey, which will arrive on devices later this year. Nvidia CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, said: "We will have shipping modems this year, hopefully sooner than later."
Apple has defeated Motorola Mobility in a patent dispute over "slide-to-unlock" feature present on smartphones. With this ruling Apple ensured its first ever patent win over Motorola Mobility. Apple's win might affect various disputes that involves Android smartphone makers all over the world. Motorola stated that this ruling will not have any impact on their supply as well as future sales.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is reportedly planning to temporarily shut down a number of domain name servers on the coming March 8, thus restricting web access to millions of computers worldwide. Apparently, the action will be taken by the FBI to engage and nullify a threat named DNSChanger Trojan, known for its ability to alter the DNS settings in the victims' computers, and thus forcing them to visit to certain unsavoury sites.
New reports have revealed that a USB stick containing some crucial nuclear power plant data was lost by an official in north-east England. According to a BBC News report, the memory stick was not even encrypted and that it contained the safety assessments of the Hartlepool plant. The official responsible for this goof up belonged to the Office for Nuclear Regulation.
