Microsoft SkyDrive Features Revealed Unofficially

Screenshots revealing interesting details about Microsoft's SkyDrive app for Windows and Mac surfaced on the Web

According to a Gemind report, the newly leaked features are likely to be parts of the SkyDrive Wave 5 M3 (version 16.3). According to a LiveSide report the new SkyDrive app will be facilitating a perfect platform for its users to access any OpenOffice document file, including the ones with .docx, .odt, odp, pptx extensions alongside many others. Another interesting feature will be that, users can use the app to access virtually any file stored in their local computers.

In addition, the app will also offer users a dedicated URL shortening service, as well as a standalone mechanism which they can exploit in order to directly share locally stored files and folders in their Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or other social media profiles. The company also increased the individual file size limit to 300 MB.

It seems like in the wake of a rather impressive performance shown by DropBox, coupled with Google's known intentions of dishing out the Google Drive sometime in the near future have really pushed the Redmond based software giant to take things on a more serious note with the SkyDrive.
