AM News: HijackThis Now Open Source, UK Government's CloudStore Open for Business, iPad 3 May Feature 8MP Camera

Security software maker Trend Micro has given its security application, Hijackthis, to the open source community, the company announced. The source code for HijackThis, which was written in VisualBasic, is now available for the developers community at SourceForge.

Over 250 IT as well as communications suppliers have been appointed by Cabinet Office for selling government wires to the public sector companies via CloudStore. This is the first time when government's £60m G-Cloud framework has been used for providing almost 1,700 "pay as you go" ICT services via an e-marketplace. This marketplace is divided into four lots, which are PaaS, IaaS, SaaS and specialist cloud services.

It has been revealed that Google was defying the privacy settings in Apple Inc.'s Safari browser in order to monitor users' online activities without even seeking for their consent. The report caused privacy advocates like the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) to lambast the search giant for its actions.

According to unconfirmed reports, Windows Phone 7 "Tango" powered handsets could appear on the Chinese market as early as March 2012. But rather than tasting the full version of Tango, Chinese customers are expected to get a customised, "lite" version of the operating system.

The closer we get to the release date of the third generation iPad, the more frantically the rumour mill is spinning; the latest buzz on tech websites comes from a couple of leaked pictures that reveal iPad 3 has a larger camera sensor. The pictures, that reached the Asian media through "special channels", also point towards a slightly redesigned casing, Apple Insider reports.
