Were you looking forward to getting some serious work done with the Microsoft Office Suite on your iPad? Well, we may have some bad news for you then, as Microsoft has rubbished a recent report on this subject, trying to put a stop to the speculation.
A couple of days ago, the new app from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, called The Daily, published a photo of what appears to be an iPad with a simplified version of Office with Excel, Word and PowerPoint - suggesting that "sources now say that the app will soon be submitted to Apple for approval."
Matt Hickey's report also suggested that the user interface is similar to the OneNote app but with a few new tweaks that could give us a glimpse into the upcoming Windows 8. Furthermore, the article pointed towards a release being announced in the "coming weeks."
Only a day after the report surfaced the web, Microsoft's PR team has burst everyone's bubble. "The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation. We have no further comment," was the official Microsoft response to a question raised by The Register.
The only method iPad owners have to work with Office documents is to rely on third party software like CloudOn and Office2 HD. At least for now...
