The Jil Sander Mobile, otherwise known as the LG-E906, can now be had for as little as £170 from Expansys, a price drop possibly linked to the impending arrival of the Nokia Lumia 610 which was launched at Mobile World Congress and is pegged to become the cheapest Windows Phone Mango on the market.
The handset - which was conceived with the help of minimalist designer Jil Sander - was unveiled back in October 2011 and was originally put on sale for £299, with Expansys getting the exclusivity in the UK.
The phone is essentially a customised version of the LG-E900 which sells for £200 at Amazon but comes with a textured shell and new buttons.
It runs on a 1GHz single core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 SoC, with 512MB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 3.8-inch 800 by 480 pixels display, a five megapixel camera with AF and LED flash, a 1500mAh battery, DLNA compatibility, Bluetooth, USB2.0 and Windows Phone 7.5 OS.
There are not noteworthy handsets at this price point; The Acer Liquid Metal Android is a potential alternative at £130, the HTC Explorer or the Motorola Fire at the same price point are also worth considering.
