Samsung Galaxy S3 To Launch In April? No Way Says Tech Chaebol

Samsung has provided a stiff rebuttal to rumours that its newest flagship, the Galaxy S3 smartphone, will be available in the UK from April.

The original rumour surfaced thanks to ZDNet Korea who quoted unidentified sources close to the Korean conglomerate. Samsung however issued an official statement picked up by the Verge.

In it, the company says that “The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment.”

Now, we know that there will be an event on the 15th of March – in two weeks’ time – in Amsterdam, Netherlands with the invite email showing two imbricated white structures that may (or may not) hide the S3 logo.

As for the specs; the phone is likely to have a Super AMOLED Plus display (either HD ready or full HD), an Exynos processor (either dual core or quad core), 2GB RAM, a 12-megapixel camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Samsung apparently decided not to release its flagship handset at the Mobile World Congress in order to avoid the “noise” caused by the launch of rival handsets (like the Huawei Ascend or the LG Optimus 4X HD).
