The Orange San Francisco otherwise known as the ZTE Blade has been discounted by Play.com to a mere £69.99 plus a compulsory £10 top up.
The device is by far the best smartphone available at that price and has already sold millions since its launch in 2010, with a large user base of followers and hackers which have ported Android 2.3 Gingerbread to it already. (Check our article on 4 things you didn't know about the Orange San Francisco)
When it was launched, it was the first one to have an AMOLED capacitive screen with a 800 by 480 pixels at this price; the current model is "only "TFT though. It also features a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor clocked at 600MHz, 512MB RAM, 2GB onboard storage, Android 2.1 Eclair, HSDPA, a 3.2-megapixel camera Bluetooth, GPS and up to four hours talk time.
Unlocking is free as we've already demonstrated here and so is debranding. Expect a huge jump in performance once you remove Orange's preloaded apps and upgrade to Gingerbread.
Also worth noting is the fact that you can swap the onboard SD card for something meatier (32GB microSD for example) for under £14 at Play.com which comes handy if you order both at the same time.
