The countdown to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has started as we received an invite this morning to an event called Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 to be held on the 3rd of May at a massive venue in London.

The event will be livestreamed by Samsung on their dedicated Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/samsungmobile) and will begin at 1900. The invite email only includes the words "come and meet the next galaxy" without giving away anything else and three coloured blobs.

Samsung could also be looking to launch a new flagship tablet given that the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 - both launched in February - were relatively minor updates to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 rather than anything else.

Expect the new Galaxy Tab to come at least with a quad core processor and a full HD (or higher) screen resolution to match (and surpass) rivals from Acer and Asus (as well as the New iPad).

As for the Samsung Galaxy S3, we expect that it will come with a 4.65-inch, HD ready screen just like the the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but use Super AMOLED Plus technology instead.

Other rumoured features include a ceramic casing, wireless charging capabilities, a quad core processor, a physical home button, an aluminium chassis but no 3D capabilities.
