Corel has pushed out the latest release of its office suite, which the company claims has been expanded to deliver a considerable increase in productivity.
Corel WordPerfect Office X6 comes replete with a number of enhancements and fresh tools, including built-in PDF functionality, with Corel having worked on Microsoft Office file compatibility – always a key point in alternative office suites.
Corel has also added support for multiple monitors to its application, and an advanced preview mode so that users can get a sneak peek at docs in Windows Explorer and Outlook, without having to open the file.
New macros have been introduced too, one of which powers up find and replace capabilities, with Bates Numbering being introduced for WordPerfect documents.
In terms of new tools, an eBook publishing module is the big addition, allowing users to create MOBI eBooks that are compatible with Amazon’s Kindle. Corel VideoStudio Essentials X4 is also on board, granting basic capabilities to produce movies or slideshows.
On top of this lot, there’s a new video-based training and help system. Corel has also introduced a new WordPerfect Document Viewer for Android devices, which runs on Android 2.3 or above.
Peter Hanschke, Director, Product Management, Productivity at Corel, commented: “With WordPerfect Office X6, we listened to our community and focused on continuing to deliver the unique, industry-leading capabilities that they depend on to get the job done. We’ve also introduced new capabilities and adapted the suite intelligently to respond to the changing environment and needs of our loyal users.”
“WordPerfect Office X6 is more than words and numbers – with its legendary formatting control, the suite encompasses a familiar set of powerful tools that are designed to help our users be as productive as possible, wherever their office may be.”
WordPerfect Office X6 Professional Edition for business users is priced at $400 or $260 to upgrade, the Home & Student Edition of the suite runs to $100; there’s no news if any of these will be available in the UK. The Standard Edition is $250 (£281.99), or $160 (£137.99) to upgrade.Leave a comment on this article
