The Samsung Galaxy S3 might be the best phone ever but one has to wonder how it will fare when face with the HTC One X which is now on sale at AffordableMobiles on O2 for a whoppingly low £21.50 per month on a two year contract, the same price as the Galaxy Note from Vodafone.

For a total cost of ownership of £516, you get 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data - you might even manage to cut the outlay even further if you can get O2 to remove the monthly £6 data add on. Given that the phone costs around £450 SIM Free, you are essentially getting it on a two year loan with a small outlay that covers for the cost of the contract.

The One X is currently HTC's top of the range smartphone. It is the first quad core smartphone to come out of the door and packs some of the best hardware on the market.

There's a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, a 4.7in 1,280 x 720 pixels AMOLED screen, an eight megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, 32GB onboard storage (but no microSD card slot, 1GB RAM, a 25GB account at Dropbox for two years plus HTC ImageSense and Beats Audio technology.

The phone will be launched this coming Thursday at an invite-only event in London where ITProPortal.com will be reporting via Rob Kerr, our mobile editor. You can read more about the Samsung Galaxy S3 and all the gossip surrounding what could turn up to be the biggest non-Apple event of the year on our dedicated liveblog.
