Target Stops Selling Kindle Devices - Sticks To iPad, Nook

by Radu Tyrsina, 03 May, 2012 News

US retailer Target has announced that its partnership with Amazon has come to an end. Target confirmed for Reuters yesterday that it is no longer going to sell Amazon's devices.

Target spokeswoman, Molly Snyder, stated that "Target is phasing out Amazon- and Kindle-branded products in the spring of 2012. We will continue to offer our guests a full assortment of e-readers and supporting accessories."

Target offers its customers a various range of e-readers and tablets. One of the top selling products in this category is Nook, from Barnes & Noble.

It's also been reported that Target is working on arranging special display zones for Apple's products and its iPad line - and whilst at one point the two companies had a strong working relationship, interests between the two began to sour amidst a legal battle.

The recent decision made by Target's officials is reportedly due to a 'conflict of interest'.

"Target continually evaluate its product assortment to deliver the best quality and prices," said Target.

However, Amazon might have generated such a reaction with its aggressive pricing strategy designed to push the competition aside. The online retailer was reluctant to comment on Target's recent decision.
