Good Technology has published its latest Device Activations Report, with the study designed to deliver a comprehensive overview on mobile device activations on a quarterly basis from the enterprise sector.
The report, however, doesn’t take into account BlackBerry devices, once the leader of this market and currently still an important player. In addition, Windows Phone 7.5 and the Lumia range that supports it didn’t even get a look in to the top ten list.
In the two-horse race of Android handsets vs. Apple’s iPhones and iPads, the iPhone 4S was declared the winner – with Apple’s latest iPhone leading in enterprise usage for the first three months of 2012.
The iPhone 4S accounted for 37 per cent of all activations in the US for the first quarter of 2012 – four times more than any other device in the study. In second place was another iOS device, the second generation iPad, which accounted for 17.7 per cent of activations.
iOS tablets almost own the market, representing about 97.3 per cent of total tablet activations in the first quarter. The top industries where iPads are the preferred digital tools include financial services, business/professional services and life sciences.
