HBO Go Now Supports Android 4.0 Phones

by Radu Tyrsina, 08 May, 2012 News

HBO announced a few days ago that the app available on Google Play will now deliver extended support for Android devices. For the overly optimistic Android fans, we should say upfront that the tablets are not included in this offer.

HBO GO and HBO MAX GO, both free apps, have been updated to offer support for Android phones running the Ice Cream Sandwich platform. The updates also include "performance enhancements and bug fixes."

After the new updates have become available, all Android phones will then be compatible with HBO apps. Alison Moore, the senior vice president of digital platforms for HBO, mentioned news of the apps earlier this year.

"It's a value-add, but it's part of your subscription, so we want to make sure that people are, whatever device they happen to be on, they're having an incredible experience," she said.

On the iOS side of the story, iPhone and iPad users have their own HBO apps. Both apps are free and were updated at the end of last month, but whilst the new version came with bug fixes it also caused crash issues.
