Sony has revealed a countdown timer to the E3 2012 Expo, as well as detailing its plans to live stream press conferences between 4th and 7th June.
On the 4th, there will be a 5:30pm preview, before a 6pm press conference. The other days will see coverage from late morning all the way through to 5pm and 6pm. As the countdown stands, there are just 26 days to go.
At E3 this year, it was initially hoped that the Japanese gaming and electronics giant would show off its PlayStation 4 Orbis console, but that isn’t likely to happen. Sony has however hinted at “20 new gaming experiences” as being on show at E3, suggesting a large lineup of future titles to debut – perhaps some new controller systems as well.
Microsoft has recently patented a pressure sensitive Xbox 360 controller and while unlikely to show off its own next-gen system, will probably debut Kinect advances.
Nintendo on the other hand will have its Wii U hardware there, giving gamers their first real look at the new system and its capabilities. There’s also a lot of interest in the touch screen controller that Nintendo is no doubt hoping will help innovate its new console platform, that many believe will be technically far less powerful than the other next generation systems and more in-line with Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware.
