Groupon subscribers will have discovered an interesting deal in their inboxes today, as the deals group is offering an 87 per cent discount on the iPhone 4S.
The offer claims to save £124 at an enormous 87 per cent discount.
Customers are offered a 16GB iPhone 4S and accessory pack for £19, when consumers sign up for a 24 month contract with mobile provider, Three.
However, going to Three directly, customers are offered the same deal - but with a £49 upfront cost.
So the £124.77 saving is more like £30.
The extra saving is made by the accessory kit, which includes a universal screen guard, Bluetooth headset, iPhone car charger and four differing 'bling' cases.
Groupon recently published its first quarterly profit figures after cutting back on marketing spending, but still managing to increase both customer and merchant bases.
The group claims to have 36.9m active customers and served over 100,000 merchants in the first quarter.
The share price for the deals and offers firm almost halved to under £6 after its IPO last year. But since the announcement of its first profit, the share price in the daily deals company has risen 12.5 per cent.
