Less than one day after Nokia announced that it will be officially releasing the Lumia 610 in the United Kingdom in June on monthly contracts starting from £15 per month, Carphone Warehouse has announced that it will offer the Lumia 800, its bigger brother, for just £15.50 per month on a two year contract. That's a total cost of ownership of £372.
The deal includes the phone plus a contract on Orange with 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB data per month, that's a saving of £240 off the previous selling price. Although the press release sent to us didn't mentions them, we're pretty sure that the contract does also include the free Monster-sourced headset which is worth around £100 by its own as well as £20 worth of apps to be spent on Windows Phone apps.
The phone features a speedy 1.4GHz processor, a single core Qualcomm Snapdragon one, with 512MB system memory, 16GB onboard storage, a 3.7in curved touchscreen display with a 800 x 480 pixels resolution and ClearBlack technology, an eight-megapixel camera with flash and Carl Zeiss lens plus a polycarbonate body.
While the deal itself is not a particularly impressive one, it is essentially the door to getting the Lumia 800 on a two year, no interest loan with no upfront fee and will appeal to users who want to upgrade to a capable Windows Phone handset without paying over the odds.
