Talktalk has reintroduced unlimited download allowance on its lowest priced contract, the Essentials package, scrapping the previous 40GB monthly data allowance and possibly linked to the forthcoming ban on the Pirate Bay which could significantly reduce P2P traffic on Talktalk's network. The promotion will last until the 25th of July 2012.
The ISP says that the unlimited download allowance is subjected to fair usage policy and will curb any non critical P2P traffic during peak time hours. Essentials includes typical download speeds of up to 13Mbps, unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines and 0845/0870 phone numbers, unlimited calls to other Talktalk members and 10 per cent off 16 phone numbers you call the most.
Other features of the package include a free wireless router, free HomeSafe online security, 500 landline to mobile minutes for three months (a total of 1,500), free connection, and a line rental cost as little as £9.50 per month if you pay 12 months in advance. Note that the contract length is 12 months which means that the total cost of ownership of £117 over a year.
