If you don't mind owning a refurbished television, then consider the Toshiba 32BV500B from Argos which is on sale with a full 12-month warranty for a mere £160. That's cheaper than the Sharp TV which went on sale from Tesco for £169 last week.

Both have Freeview, a 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution. The Toshiba comes with a massive bezel, 450cd/m2 brightness, a contrast ratio of 4000:1, a response time of 8ms, two HDMI sockets, SCART and D-Sub sockets, Composite and component sockets, a USB port, two 6W speakers, a CI Slot and a weight of 11.6Kg.

Argos says that the TV consumes a 150W with a 1W standby power consumption. It appears however that the Toshiba model doesn't offer PVR ready/Media player capabilities.
