10x cheaper than an iPad 3: Price of Britain's best value tablet falls to £39.99

Play.com is selling the Disgo 7000 tablet for a mere £39.99, a 25 per cent discount from its selling price three months ago, and almost half the price at Amazon.

The device comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, a 7in screen with a 800 x 480 resolution (albeit a resistive display), a 1GHz single core iMAPx210 ARM11 SoC (with 16KB L2 cache), 4GB onboard storage, 512MB DDR2 of RAM, a 3000mAh battery, a VGA webcam, Wi-Fi, two micro USB ports, a microSD card slot and an HDMI port.

You should be able to add a 32GB microSD card and a 32GB USB drive for around £25 which means that you will be able to get a tablet with 68GB of storage for £65.

You won't be able to upgrade it to Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean and you don't have Google Play, only GetJar, an unofficial Android App market.

That said at 300g and at only 10.5mm thick, this tablet is very portable and a great all rounder thanks to an extensive file format compatibility ranging from MP3 to 3GP and RMVB.
