In an effort to create the most comprehensive, cloud-based social platform, Oracle has announced its acquisition of social media manager Involver.
The partnership is expected to become official by the end of this summer, when both companies will join to foster what Oracle called the full potential of social media, as well as increase brand loyalty by connecting customers with buyers' needs.
"The acquisition is a combination of the best of both worlds," Involver said yesterday. By combining its industry-leading social marketing solutions with Oracle's comprehensive cloud, customers will benefit from access to more social options, including former acquisitions Collective Intellect, RightNow, and Virtue.
Terms of the transaction were not released.
Both companies recognised that consumers want anytime access to social media information, reviews, and recommendations, on the web and on mobile platforms.
Involver's technology will expand Oracle's social platform, helping customers easily and cost-effectively build applications and experiences across social networks, Involver said.
Oracle has purchased three companies in five months, first snatching up cloud-based talent management company Taleo Corporation for £1.2 billion in February, then buying social marketing platform Virtue for an undisclosed price in May, before picking up Collective Intellect in June.
"As a team, we are committed to keeping our customers and followers informed," Involver President and CEO Don Beck said in a blog post. He thanked users for unwavering commitment, and promised to provide updates as the partnership with Oracle continues.
Oracle Cloud launched just last month, bringing "the most comprehensive cloud on the planet Earth" customers, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison said at the time.
Involver was founded in 2007, and has since gathered 700,000 customers. In the time before the transaction closes, Involver and Oracle will continue to operate independently of each other.
