Shy geeks rejoice: Googler demonstrates how to pop the question via Nexus 7 tablet

Google is leaving no promotional rock unturned when it comes to its just-released Nexus 7 tablet, spreading news yesterday of a marriage proposal recently executed by one of the search giant's employees with the new device.

Google employee Raj asked for his girlfriend's hand in marriage this month by giving her a Nexus 7 packed with her favourite music, photos, books, and videos (along with a handful of jelly beans). Oh, and a four minute video that ultimately led to him popping the question.

The video, dubbed "I Heart Aditi," (bottom) was built by editing together a series of photos of people – family and friends, presumably – making heart shapes with their hands and celebrating Aditi.

The stop-motion-like film ends with Raj silently professing his love through written words, and finally ending with him holding a heart-shaped whiteboard with the words "Will you marry me?" written on it.

While the proposal took place in Chicago on 4 July, the Google Nexus Twitter account announced the prospoal yesterday afternoon by tweeting, "A Googler recently proposed to his girlfriend by giving her a #Nexus7 and then showing her this amazing video."

The message was retweeted 223 times.

Raj makes no mention of whether or not the photos he strung together were taken with the Nexus 7 tablet, or just loaded on to the machine after he edited the video.

Google doesn't need much help marketing its new device, which sold out of 16GB models in its first weekend on the market. Earlier, Google released its first Nexus 7 commercial – a sweet story of a father, a son, and their Nexus 7-aided camping trip. It probably doesn't hurt to add a viral marriage proposal video to your arsenal of promotional items, though.
