Carphone Warehouse has cut the price of the Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition, which was launched late last year, from £299 to £199, possibly due to the launch of the Google Nexus 7.
The XOOM 2 weighs in at 385g and is only 8.9mm thick, which means that it can be easily held one-handed. It features an 8.9in display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution IPS display, the same as its bigger brother the, Motorola XOOM 2 10.1.
Other specifications include a dual core TI OMAP4460 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage (no microSD card slot), a microUSB port, a 4000mAh battery, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front facing one, an HDMI port and Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
The Nexus 7 has a smaller display, no HDMI port and no rear camera. But it does come with Android Jelly Bean by default and has a quad core processor, which makes it a compelling alternative.
