Nexus 7 owners waiting for the release of official Asus accessories for the popular 7in tablet may not have to wait much longer. The folks at Nordic Hardware have managed to get their hands on a series of leaked slides that detail the specs of an apparently forthcoming Asus-manufactured dock and line of cases built for the device.
Previous confirmation that a dock would be released soon has been corroborated by the leak, which shows off a Pogo pin dock with a sleek wedge design. It will apparently feature a headphone jack and a USB port, though HDMI support is noticeably absent. The Nexus Dock is set for a 24 August launch, with a price tag of $49.99 (£32).
The slides also indicate that users will have a choice between two kinds of covers - a thermoplastic polyurethane version dubbed the Asus Travel Cover and a leather iteration called the Asus Premium Cover. The budget case, which has already been teased on Google and Asus’ websites, will be available in six different colours. It’s being priced at $19.99 (£13), though it has clearly missed its 16 July target delivery date.
The higher-end version boasts a microfibre inside and a glass fibre backing for extra protection. It will ship in four admittedly underwhelming colours, for a grand total of $39.99 (£25). It's expected to arrive on 31 August.
The slides have been removed from Nordic Hardware, the Swedish site that first revealed the leak, so there's no telling whether or not the details are legitimate. Chances are an official announcement from Asus is on the way.
