Facebook's new App Center has attracted attention from more than 150 million users and is driving 2.4 times more app installs than the social network's previous dashboard, the social network has revealed.
At this point, the new app center is the second largest source of app and game installs on Facebook. More than 150 million people have tried it in the past month, and Facebook found that users who install an app from the app store are 35 per cent more likely to return to it the next day and 17 per cent will come back within a week.
The app store generates more than 30 per cent of the total installs for many high-quality apps, providing new opportunities for developers, according to Facebook's Matt Wyndowe. "Some social iOS and Android apps are receiving thousands of additional mobile installs every day," he wrote in a blog post.
"We're encouraged by the App Center's positive reception from users and developers, but there's still more work to be done," Wyndowe said. "Over the coming months, we plan to continue to improve our recommendations, make it even easier for people to find apps, and create additional sources of growth for mobile apps."
Facebook unveiled its App Center in early June with 600 social apps, including Nike+ GPS, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Stitcher Radio, Draw Something, and Pinterest.
The company started the rollout of App Center in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa, in early July and completed the global expansion earlier this month.
