Keeping track of next-generation iPhone rumours, leaks, and predictions is no easy feat, but they keep on rolling in. The latest is a series of blurry images purporting to show off the device’s logic board and new USB cable.

Unsurprisingly, the photos first materialised on Sina.com, following earlier images of the alleged iPhone 5 logic board posted on the WeiPhone user forum. The latest bunch features what is claimed to be the device’s motherboard, free of the protective EMI shielding and offering a glimpse of its internal chipsets.

The rumour mill expects the handset to ship with the same A5X processor used in the iPad. That the processor, a dualcore CPU with a ramped up quadcore GPU, will power the new iPhone was not confirmed by the images.

One of the persistent rumours about Apple’s next-generation smartphone is that it will effectively eliminate the old 30-pin dock, replacing it with a smaller one that may have anywhere between eight and 19 pins. And a tweeted image of an alleged smaller charging cable suggests as much.

The reported leak comes after photos that reportedly feature the phone’s full front panel hit the Internet earlier this week. Those images show off a significantly smaller dock port and confirm earlier reports that the iPhone’s headphone jack will be moved to the bottom of its body, to the left of the docking port.

Apple is widely expected to announce the device at an event on 12 September and may begin shipping the phone as early as 21 September.
