Adobe has released the new versions of its Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 photo and video-editing software.
The stripped-down versions of the Adobe Pro software, Photoshop and Premiere Elements provide the complete editing, organising, and sharing package.
The revamped Photoshop Elements sports a completely refreshed user interface, including quick, guided, and expert editing modes, one-click options, an action bar, and bold icons – components already running in the full Photoshop system.
Using Google maps geo-tagging, users can organise photos based on people, places, or events, and new technology makes it easier to extract objects from different photos. For those who want to use Instagram on a larger scale, new Guided Edits provide professional-level effects like tilt-shift, vignettes, and high and low-key options, as well as filters like Comic, Graphic Novel, and Pen & Ink.
Meanwhile, videographers will get a boost in editing power with Premiere Elements 11, which carries similar UI changes to Photoshop, and adds a range of new effects, transitions, themes, titles, disc menus, and sounds. Adobe touted the new motion effects, colour slider controls, and transitions which provide Hollywood-movie style.
"Photos and videos allow us to capture and share moments in time," Lea Hickman, Adobe Creative Consumer Business vice president of products, said in a statement. "Powerful – yet friendly and easy to use – Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 inspire creativity and help consumers make the most of remembering and sharing these personal memories."
Both services allow sharing via email, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo.
Consumers can buy Photoshop or Premiere Elements 11 on Adobe's website, or wait until the products hit retailers like Amazon in the future. Bundled together, the editing software is available for £117.22, with an upgrade price of £96.71 for owners of the Elements 10 package. Separately, Photoshop Elements 11 costs £78.15, or £63.49 on upgrade. Both are available for Windows and Mac operating systems.
