Ultrabook-like Acer V5 laptop price-crunched to £265

If you want to get a sleek, premium-looking laptop, then check out the Acer Aspire V5, which costs £265 at Ebuyer (via its eBay outlet) and comes with free delivery and 265 Nectar Points. The laptop is a mere 21mm thick and weighs 2.3kg, making it almost the same thickness and weight as some Ultrabooks.

It is powered by a dual-core Intel Pentium 967 processor, clocked at 1.3GHz, with 2MB L3 cache and based on the third generation Ivy-Bridge architecture. Accordingly, it comes with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 plus 128MB dedicated memory.

Other features include 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, a DVD writer, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 CineCrystal display, an HD-ready Crystal Eye webcam, Dolby Advanced Audio v2, two speakers and a numeric keypad,

Acer also managed to cram in Wi-Fi, GbE, Bluetooth, two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port, HDMI, and a card reader. In addition to a one-year international traveller’s warranty, Acer will refund any customer who chooses to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, a process that costs £15.

In a nutshell, the V5 combines an attractive design and a decent spec list, with the international warranty and Windows 8 as welcome bonuses.
