New third-party apps extend SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 features

As part of Microsoft's SharePoint Conference, MitaVis Technologies has announced several new apps that will extend functionality in SharePoint and Office 365.

"There are many new features in SharePoint 2013 that will allow customers to better manage and organise their content," said Peter Senescu, president and co-founder of MetaVis. "MetaVis products are SharePoint 2013 ready and we will be previewing new solutions that will help customers successfully prepare and plan their 2013 strategies. We are also excited to be a part of the emerging SharePoint 2013 Store with apps that make it easier for users to manage their SharePoint content."

For example, the Information Manager Office 365 app allows users to bulk tag and classify content directly within the SharePoint ribbon. The app is available in the SharePoint 2013 store.

The Term Store Manager app helps users manage metadata and term stores — features introduced in SharePoint 2010 that carry over into SharePoint 2013. Informant for SharePoint analyses the content of files to help assure compliance, reduce risk, and automate governance. MetaVis also offers a SharePoint Pre-Migration Assessment tool which analyses a SharePoint environment and provides performance estimates, information about missing templates, checked out files and more.

Finally, the company also announced the availability of Information Manager Power User Edition. This solution allows SharePoint user to migrate and tag their content in both SharePoint and Office 365. Data can be migrated to SharePoint from file systems and services including Dropbox, SkyDrive and Google Drive.
