O2 is offering a £20 voucher to spend at a number of UK retailers (Amazon, Next, M&S, Debenhams or Argos) when purchasing a PAYG smartphone costing as little as £80 (that’s the Sony Xperia tipo).
The Nokia Lumia 800 is possibly our preferred smartphone out of the lot on offer and costs only £150 from the mobile operator with a £10 extra top up voucher.
The handset was launched more than a year ago and comes with some very decent mainstream specifications although you won’t be able to upgrade it to Windows Phone 8.0 (only Windows Phone 7.8).
The Lumia 800 has a single-core system-on-chip Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 clocked at 1.4GHz, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 4.3in 800 x 480 display with ClearBlack technology, an 8-megapixel rear camera and more.
The phone has now been replaced by the Lumia 820, which costs more than twice its price, and the Lumia 920, which is nearly four times more expensive. Both phones were launched at a special event in New York.
Note that the Lumia 610 is also available for £100 and that O2 customers can benefit from the Priority Moments scheme which gives them special discounts at retailers like Ocado or BHS.
