As part of Currys' 100 hours sale, you can get the Toshiba Satellite P850-12X laptop for only £499, down from £550. The laptop is refurbished but comes with a full warranty from the online retailer.

What makes the laptop such a bargain is the sheer amount of raw performance it delivers at this price range. It is equipped with an Ivy Bridge-based Intel Core i7 processor, the i7-3610QM, which is clocked at 2.3GHz and has four cores and 6MB L3 cache.

There’s also 8GB of RAM, a massive 1TB hard disk drive, an Nvidia Geforce GT630M graphics card with 2GB dedicated memory, a DVD writer, VGA and HDMI ports, a card reader, four USB 3.0 ports, an island-style keyboard with a full size keypad, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a HD webcam and an Ethernet port.

Designwise, the laptop is a rather good-looking model with a thin screen bezel and a silver finish. However, its disappointments are that it runs Windows 7 Home Premium (and not Windows 8) and that its display is a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel TruBrite model.
