Barnes & Noble releases Nook app for Android and iOS in the UK

Leading book retailer Barnes & Noble has given UK consumers access to its free eBook reader app. The new Nook application will give users access to over 2.5 million titles and is available for both Android and iOS devices.

The new release follows the recent launch of Barnes & Noble’s range of tablets and dedicated eBook readers - the Nook HD, Nook HD+ and the Simple Touch GlowLight - and will synchronise with a user’s cross-platform library, allowing them to read the same book across multiple devices.

Furthermore, the app will support various types of content outside of the traditional book format, and will offer a free 14-day trial to its Newsstand, where users can read magazines, newspapers and comics.

The application boasts a customisation feature that allows the user to choose from a range of custom themes, some of which are professionally crafted. The UK edition will also ship with a British English dictionary.

“Our popular collection of reading apps have been downloaded millions of times in the US, and now UK customers can enjoy the flexibility to shop our vast digital catalogue and enjoy titles from their Nook Library anywhere they go, whether they’re using one of our award-winning Nook products, an iPad, iPhone or Android device,” said president of Nook Media Jamie Iannone.
