Samsung’s intriguing smartphone, the Galaxy Beam, otherwise known as the I8530, is on sale at Asda for £245, SIM-free with free delivery.
This phone, which was released earlier this year, is the only mainstream handset we know of that includes a projector. Check out the review we wrote about the Samsung Galaxy Beam back in August.
The phone is rather thick (up to 15mm), heavy (145g) and has a yellow-and-black finish. The projector has a resolution of 640 x 360, which has the same aspect ratio (but not the same pixel count) as its 4in display (800 x 480). The rest of the features are resolutely mainstream (soon to become entry level) and remind us of the Galaxy S3 Mini.
There’s a dual-core system-on-chip clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a front facing 1.3-megapixel one, GPS, Wi-Fi, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, two batteries and a FM radio.
The projector, however, has limited uses given that images become blurry if the projection surface is too far from the phone.
